Sweet Potato Test

3-4 medium sized sweet potatoes
  • Olive or coconut oil (about a tablespoon per potato)
  • Tamari (about a tsp. per potato)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • Pepper
  • Optional: a handful sunflower seeds (see comment above)
  • Takes , serves 35 mins.


    1. Heat the oven to 200°C (400 °F)
    2. Cut the sweet potatoes in thin fries
    3. Put them in a large bowl and mix with all other ingredients. Make sure all fries are well coated with the oil
    4. Spread them in a single layer on an oven tray lined with baking paper
    5. Bake for 20-30 minutes. See comment above for tips
    6. They’re ready when crispy and slightly burnt on the edges

    Honey Glazed Almonds


    Honey Glazed Almonds

    This simple snack has become a staple in our house, and can often be found in my kids’ school bags. For those of you with a sweet tooth, this makes a perfect sweet snack to satisfy sugar cravings in a healthy way.

    Makes: 1 cup Almonds

    • 1 cup almonds
    • 1 tbsp. maple syrup (or runny honey)
    • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds

    1. Heat your oven to 180° C or 360° F
    2. In a mixing bowl, mix the almonds with the two other ingredients. Add a few sprinkles of sea salt if you like
    3. Spread the almonds on a baking tray, separating them as much as possible so they don’t stick together, and bake for 10-15 minutes until they turn light brown
    4. Allow to cool before enjoying
